whoo! its finally the sch hols! although i still hv to go to sch, i dont hv to wake up so early! =) but this june hols is definitely gonna be an intense mugging period for me. gotta make full use of this hols to catch up all my work! im gonna keep Us away from me this common test 2! but anw, this wk was supposed to be SISC wk. and so there is supposedly no sch for everyone unless u're involved in it. but since when is life ever so good? haha i had to go to sch EVERY DAY this wk! had band prac on mon. tue there was stupid gp and visiting of laoren. wed was math consultation and band. chem remedial and econs consultation on thurs. had more chem remedial on fri. then kyan, mx, choo, jaime n i were involved in the backstage work in the farewell party for SISC. so we assembled in sch and the bus took us to Prince George Park in NUS for the farewell party. pic took in bus: ![]() jaime, kyan, ME! the SISC farewell party was damn cool i tell u! get to see ppl from China, Taiwan, USA, America, Japan, Korea, Thailand and of cos Singapore. the students from different schs put up performances which were rly entertaining and everyone just went WILD! then there was the dance floor where everyone danced like mad! although the party was only abt 2+ hrs, it was alr very memorable =) pics taken at PGP: ![]() choo, ME! (i was trying to camouflage with the curtains!) ![]() ME, kyan! (i was trying to be taller than kyan! =P)
nj guitar, strings and choir put up performances too! strings played pirates of carribean which is damn nice! choir sang rainbow connection n superman. haha xianyong imitated kermit the frog very well! rainbow connection is a very nice song! and this song had helped us created new nicks for ourselves. the story started like this: choo started singing like the frog n so i called her kermit. and cos kermit rhymes with hermit and kyan was just beside choo, i called kyan hermit! then kyan turned arnd and called me vomit like so randomly! -.- and so we told jaime our new nicknames and wanted to create one for jaime as well. then jaime came up with her new nickname herself - dammit! hahahaha the nicknames are getting from bad to worse! then mx came along and we wanted to name him sth worse than dammit. then kyan suddenly shouted, "so stupid!" and there goes mx's nickname - stupid! OKAY, WE'VE GOT NTH BETTER TO DO! thats why we're called the WULIAOS! =P alright, that was actually the highlight of that night although it was rly dumb. gtg do some work alr! mug hard guys! =)
Would you be there - Redwan Ali
If I were blue, would you be there for me, And whisper in my ears that's okay, Would you stand by me, let me hold you tight, And say you love me one more time. If I feel good, would you slow dance with me, And touch my lips with tender love and care Would you die for me, would you run with me, And never look back.. Would you be there to love, to be with me? Would you swear that your love is always true? Would you say that you'll always be the one, to take my breath away? Would you be there to love, to be with me? Would you swear that your love is always true? Would you say that you'll always be the one, to take my breath away?

Term 2 has come to an end, which is pretty fast. Common test 1 seemed just like ytd. And now, term 2 has past, which means that I’ve to prepare for common test 2 soon. Term 2 is a rly hectic term, whereby teachers are trying to finish the curriculum fast and us practising hard for syf. This is already mentally torturing for us because it is not easy balancing studies on one side when we had band pracs everyday till at night on the other side. And I haven’t learnt how to have good time management yet. Still failing chem as usual and math is getting more and more depressing. Im hopelessly lost in phy and econs, and im never there for gp anw. So there goes my A levels, which is only like in 5 mths time? SOMEONE PLS GET ME MOTIVATED TO MUG!
And the 39th Student Council has just stepped down last wed. There is still a very long way before I can step down from band. Reading blogs from some councillors, I can tell that they’re very attached to council, like so emotional over stepping down. Haha how I wish I will be so emotional by the time I have to step down from band, but I don’t think I ever will. Syf had made me qt attached to band. But now that syf is over, I don’t feel so attached anymore. I guess feelings come and go fast. I don’t know, but I guess band rly has a very different culture. Or maybe because im in band for like 1 yrs plus only, or maybe only one yr, so I still haven’t got used to it yet. Sighs, maybe I shldnt be in a field which I don’t belong to from the start, but its all too late, just trying to hang on in there! Etude XXXII is coming. There are lots of preparation for it, like learning more things like timpani and castanets. I can foresee more stress from band ahead. Nvm, everything will be over soon. Hopefully etude XXXII will be a beautiful dream to the end of my band life, which I believe it will be.

A judgement of 15mins cant decide the whole 5mths of fun and efforts we have experienced.
It is not all, not the end. We have already achieved what is more invaluable to us, the bond and experiences. -wensi I agree.

NJCSB SYF 2007 --- GOLD!
Months of hardwork just for ytd. Im really glad that our hardwork has rly paid off. It has rly been mths of intense pracs, esp so in this month. There are pracs every single day, except Sunday, and each prac ends at 8+pm. PLUS, we hv pracs in NIE which ends at 9+pm and by the time I reach home, it’ll be 11pm alr. BUT its all worth our efforts =) im rather satisfied with the gold award that we’ve gotten. Mr Ho, our beloved band conductor, made a very touching speech ytd after our results were announced. He said he was not disappointed with us. In fact, he was rly proud of us. He told us that we’ve come so far tgt as a band despite the 3 BIG challenges that we’ve faced early: 1) Band is rly rly very small and we almost cldnt take part in syf cos of the small band size. Many j1s left us and the number of j2s isn’t very big either! 2) The IPs almost cldnt take part in the syf with us this yr cos they’re underaged, making the band even smaller but luckily they changed the rules =) 3) Internal Combustion is rly a very difficult piece to play. When I first got the score, I was praying very hard that it will not be our SYF piece but Mr Ho still chose that song anw. Almost everyone in band also preferred Machu Picchu to Internal Combustion and so when we had to play Internal Combustion, the passion for music wasn’t there! We were just playing notes and not music! At that point of time, everyone alr felt like giving up, cos we felt that theres no way we can play that song so beautifully. Of cos, Mr Ho, Mr Alvin Leong and the exco scolded us for not believing in ourselves that we can play that piece well. That happened like 2 mths ago only! Honestly at that time, I was thinking that at this rate, band is gonna get only silver and can forget abt getting even a gold! They’ve injected confidence in us and we’ve made it! Its all in the mind! =) and so after that, everyone worked hard towards our common goal! NIE pracs made that piece sound even worse cos there was less echo in the NIE bandroom compared to NJ bandroom. And we also tried recording and after hearing how we played, our morale went downslope. BUT with Mr Ho’s guidance, our morale went up again! He’s rly a nice patient experienced old man who understands how we feel and gave us the confidence that we can fly! There was this period of time this yr when he fell sick and the whole band went lost! It was like, we’ve lost our sense of direction like how shermin puts it, only having to rely on our 2 PPs. Just 2 wks ago or even this wk, almost everyone fell sick! I even had a fever last sun! And the morale is gg down again as stress sets in. I see a lot of ppl crying becos of SYF stress. This is so scary! =X But Internal Combustion has rly pushed me to my limits. Initially when I knew that every part of the percussion score requires at least one note reading mallets, I was stunned. I was like, “Siao ah! U think everyone can read those notes is it! Im a music idiot OKAY!” haha but no choice, I picked bells and marimba. I relied qt a lot on my memory, like the position of the keys but ltr, I began to play music instead! I’ve conquered my fear for mallets! At least now I can differentiate the difference between bass clef n treble clef =) And snare rolling! Although I dare not say that I can roll perfectly well now, I dare to say that my rolling has improved in just within 2mths! Initially I was still relying on Jocelyn who has left NJ after deciding that poly suites her more sometime in March! That rly freaked me out! But it also gave me a chance to learn how to roll, and im so proud of myself! But btr be humble and continue perfecting my roll! =) SYF has truly brought the band closer tgt. Despite getting a gold award, the teachers-in-charge are rly very proud of us, cos of our team spirit. We play as ONE band! When we fly, we fly together! Even during the release of results ytd, although we were given 30 seats per band to sit in the hall to listen to the results, we’d rather stay outside the hall tgt and give those seats to our snrs instead! And to my dearest Mr Ho, he is truly a man whom I give my full respect to. Thanks Mr Ho for all that u’ve done for band =)

THE LAST LAP!
tmr is THE DAY! months of hard work hv been put in for tmr! hope our efforts will be paid off! =) anw, shermin was very encouraging today! she showed us pics of us since the start of the yr till now, like how far we've come tgt as a band, making the impossible possible! yea, thinking back, i think i've learnt alot just within these few mths of band practices this yr. its like kind of a breakthrough for me. first time playing the snaredrum, marimba n bells so seriously! nv knew that i cld actually read those beansprout kind of notes till now =) im gaining confidence! ok, actually syf is kind of a good thing. it pushes ppl to work hard. though the process is disgusting n tiring, the result of it is sweet. it also bonds ppl tgt n dare to dream of the impossible. of cos, it also helped us to grow stronger mentally. well i guess, afterall band is qt nice. i enjoy making music although im still not so used to the band culture. but anw, JIAYOU NJCSB! let's SHINE tmr! love u guys! =)

My Life
Everyone was born to be happy. Life seems great until we started schooling. No impression of what life was like when I was in pre-sch or pri sch. Tough life starts setting in when I went to sec sch. Thinking back, I think they were nth compared to now. Smiles began to lessen when I was in jc1. Jc2 was worse. I dun recall when was the time when I was truly happy in jc2. Frowns set in when we start worrying abt our studies, syf n other commitments. Slowly, we become antisocial. Then occasionally, depression comes in too. When can we hv a life again? Perhaps, life will be worse than now after we go into the working society. Who knows? |
