ETUDE XXXII
Yesterday had marked the end of my band life on a beautiful note. Everything went perfectly well. The band was great. So was the audience. We practically rocked the stage last night by playing songs like Chorale and Shaker Dance, Thames Journey, Fantasy Variation, Internal Combustion, PERCUSSION ENSEMBLE – Marching Season, Brazilian Street Dance, Stageband – Superstition, If I didn’t have you, One Day I’ll Fly Away, Lian Ai-ING, Please Give Me Wings, Machu Picchu and the encore pieces – Instant Concert and Japanese Graffiti. Although I was still a little uncertain even during the rehearsal yesterday and even played some parts wrongly, everything went perfectly into place last night during the actual performance and I was glad that it did. Everyone was very high after that. Etude XXXII was a success! All our hard work have been paid off. Sometimes I wonder, should I have joined band last year as my CCA or should I have joined something slacker because band is really a very heavy CCA whereby practice hours are really very long and it has definitely affected my studies. But after spending my close to 2 years in band, I realized that I did not regret joining band. Yes, band has taken up a lot of my time and I even had to sacrifice my studies for it, but the experience I had in band, the process of learning how to play percussion from scratch, the friends I’ve made in band, the joy and tears that we have shed during practices have made me joined band with absolute no regrets. Honestly, I used to dislike band a lot mainly due to its long practice hours, the stress felt because I have difficulties reading scores and counting the beats correctly and also I do not really know a lot of people in band. But thinking back, I think that I had overcomed all those hurdles and I was really really glad that I have joined band. The most important thing that I have learnt in band is never to give up till the very end. Even if it means sacrificing your studies, you will still have to go for it because you will definitely see the fruits of success after that. Perseverance and resilience is the key to every success. I would like to thank Mr Ho Hwee Long, my band conductor, for always believing in me that I can do it, always encouraging and correcting me and also giving me a new name – Emily, my seniors, Wei Chong, Shu Heng, Cai Jie, Pei Ying, Jia Min and of course Deon for teaching me percussion and giving me lots of encouragement, Jocelyn, our guest performer for helping us in the concert although she is very busy in her new poly, my lovely juniors, Grace and Ma Rui for putting in so much effort in percussion ( the future of percussion lies in your hands!), my dear section mates, Yi Hong, Ernest and Kakeru for making my percussion experience a wonderful and memorable one, Wuliaos, Jing Hao, Ming Xuan, Lee Yang, Shu Lin, Yun Tian, Li Hui etc for coming down to the concert to support me and all the rest who had supported me via sms, emotionally, physically or mentally. THANK YOU! You guys have made me end my band life beautifully.

Enrichment week
Now is enrichment week. 4 days have passed. And yet I don’t feel enriching. Maybe because so far I’ve only gone for 5 hours out of 15 hours of enrichment week activities. Gone for physics revision package and BODYCOMBAT!!! Physics revision package was erm well like that lor. I still cant do dynamics on my own, draw free body diagrams and stuffs. Maybe I need to read through everything all over again zzz. Ahhhh abt one more month to prelims!!! Bodycombat was GREAT! The only thing that I looked forward to in this enrichment week! Luckily it didn’t disappoint me. It was tough initially especially to unfit people like me who haven’t exercised since the end of last year. There were lots of jumping, kicking and boxing! Haha although the bodycombat has caused lots of pain to my ankle and muscle aches, I did not regret going for bodycombat! The bodycombat instructor is SO ZAI! She gave one nj class a bodycombat lesson in the morning before my afternoon session and yet she can appear so energetic during my session! Then after my session, she’ll be having another lesson from the public! Woah I attend a short 1.5hrs lesson already want to die lehh! Then cool down for bodycombat was pumping, crunches etc. ZOMG! And the best best part of the entire bodycombat lesson was the SHOWER!!! There were showergel and shampoo there la! then the shower got hotwater also! Although there was only curtains instead of a solid door for each shower cubicle, I didn’t really care la. I took a super long time bathing!! Shiok mann! =) Then had sectionals in nj lor. I’ve been having sectionals EVERY DAY from wed to Saturday! No choice la, concert coming already, must buck up! It’s the last band concert which marks the END OF MY NJ BAND LIFE, so I’m putting in 100% effort into this concert. Must make this a memorable and unregretful one yay! Gogogo!!! We’re gonna rock the stage! GO PERCUSSION!!!!!!!! Okay more unplanned enrichment week activities ahead on mon and tue! Mon I’ll be going for this supernatural talk thing, sounds interesting and probably in-line skating! Then I’ll be having BOLLYWOOD talk on tue and probably in-line skating too. HAHA bollywood lehh!! Don’t know whether I can understand or not hahaha =P

Enrichment Week
Alright, common tests are over and now it's the Enrichment Week. Well, it's supposed to be enriching as the name suggests, but i guess it'll make no difference to me since my courses suck considering the fact that my edusave has no money and i don't think i'll get those courses that i signed up for. Sucky shit. Otherwise my enrichment week would be a fulfilling one. Darn. Haha the only courses that i'm looking forward to are body combat (YAY!) and the PHYSICS REVISION PACKAGE because these are the only confirmed courses in my entire enrichment week so far. URGH! It's time for me to start mugging again although common test 2 is just over. C'mon, J2 student's life is like that - monotonous and muggish. Heh, all start with the letter M. That makes me a M student. Okay crap. Anyway, my physics tutor is really encouraging. He says that from now till A levels, it's a time to really mug, at least 12hrs EVERY DAY. If ever we feel like slacking, we can give him a call and ask him to scold us to get us mugging. And before he can scold us, we're supposed to indicate our choice whether the use of vulgar language during the scolding is allowed. Of course i'd allow him to use vulgar language because it'll definitely be more effective. This 40plus-year-old guy rocks mann! I have no self-discipline, i need more scoldings to get work done! Heh, that's me. MUGGING ROCKS MAN, i tell you. It's the latest trend now and you guys should really follow! Suffer now and enjoy later! |
